Common causes include pulpitis (inflammation of the pulp), dental caries (tooth decay), dental trauma or other factors, dentin hypersensitivity, apical periodontitis (inflammation of the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone around the root apex), dental abscesses, dry socket or gum infection.
