Definition: An occlusal (refers to the position of the teeth or “bite”) splint is a removable dental appliance that covers several or all of the upper or lower teeth.
You may need an occlusal splints if you grind or clench your teeth, have severe tooth wear or have temporamandibular joint disorder (TMJ disorder)
Occlusal splints are typically constructed of hard acrylic resin or a soft resilient type.
